For those of you not familiar with Rigamajig, here’s the lowdown. The brainchild of Cas Holman, a professor at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), Rigamajig is a collection of fun wooden pieces—pulleys, clamps, planks, wheels, etc. —that can attach to one another in all sorts of creative ways. Rigamajig is distributed by KaBOOM! Play Product Initiatives, makers of numerous play products all centered around team building, innovation, and skill set development.
A fun and valuable tool for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) based learning, Rigamajig encourages creativity and teamwork. This teamwork will come to fruition over the next two weeks as schools across the country compete to build their own unique creations. To unite the schools participating in this national contest, all are working towards the same global play prompt: “Build a Rigamajig That Can Improve Your School.” The contest was developed by 24K Creative as a social media event aimed at increasing Rigamajig’s social media presence, thereby increasing product awareness and spurring sales.
The contest is Facebook-based and the winner is determined by the number of ”Likes” garnered by each participating team. We’re excited about the contest and anxious to see what the kids come up with. KaBOOM! is all about play and we here at 24K are pretty big on that too!
